The print is inspired by Brussels-style bobbin lace fragments from the late 19th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, lace became the basic element of fashionable clothing. The image shows simple black mesh grounds patterned with small flower vines.

The idea came from the digitalised collection of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum which is located in New York, USA. The only museum in the country committed only to historical and contemporary design.
